BIO
José Luis Perdigón (Canary Islands, Spain) is a Berlin-based composer and performer. His work explores the psychological and acoustic friction between auditory perception and musical imagination, focusing particularly on Musical Imagery—Voluntary and Involuntary Musical Imagery (VMI/INMI)—and on the thresholds where internally imagined sound and external acoustic reality overlap, alternate, or decouple.
Through the expressive potential of temporal structures and the visual-spatial qualities of timbre, his music frequently incorporates atypical sound objects to investigate the boundaries of listening and sonic cognition. He is co-founder, composer, and performer of Kollektiv Unruhe, a Berlin-based contemporary music collective.
His music has been commissioned and performed by leading soloists and ensembles including the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, PHACE, Ensemble Ascolta, Trio Catch, Trio Accanto, Schallfeld Ensemble, Trio Abstrakt, Kebyart Quartet, and the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt. His work has been presented at festivals such as Impuls Festival (Graz), Musik der Jahrhunderte (Stuttgart), Darmstadt Summer Course, Mixtur Festival (Barcelona), and the Canary Islands International Music Festival.
